SUMMARY:Virginia Film Festival: Shenandoah World Premiere
DESCRIPTION:World Premiere \nWitness the majesty of Shenandoah National Park through this mesmerizing\, grand\, and personal documentary. In 2019\, Shenandoah National Park granted Virginia’s Orange Frame Productions exclusive access to film anywhere within the park. During this time\, the OFP team scuba dived into mountain caves to film the elusive American eel\, climbed cliff faces to witness a peregrine falcon’s first flight\, and ventured far off the beaten path to discover the endangered Shenandoah salamander. \nThe Appalachian Mountains is a place shaped by ongoing formations\, migrations\, and transformations. This constant change is driven by the region’s diverse species\, geology\, and human history\, which all play a role in the story of Shenandoah’s lush and fragile wilderness—a place that has evolved for millions of years and continues to adapt today. With stunning cinematography from two renowned National Geographic filmmakers\, the film also explores the history of the park itself\, chronicling how the physical landscape and its cultural impact has shifted over time. \nThe film is dedicated to late director Jeff Boedeker\, who unexpectedly passed away during production. Harnessing Jeff’s vision\, Anna Boedeker (owner of Orange Frame Productions) continued the project as executive producer\, embodying his inspired pursuit to share never-before-seen perspectives of this unbelievable world. \nIntroduction by co-executive producer Anna Boedeker. \nDiscussion with director Elizabeth Crowl\, Evan Childress (Division Chief of Natural and Cultural Resources\, Shenandoah National Park)\, Claire Comer (Interpretive Specialist\, Shenandoah National Park)\, and Robert Cox (UVA)\, moderated by co-executive producer Steve Humble (VPM).

DESCRIPTION:“Mothers are busy\,” “In times like this” and “In a world where” seem to be the most popular ways to start a brief lately. So\, how do you do something to stand out? You dig for insights that everyone is thinking about\, but maybe not everyone is talking about and apply them to your marketing strategy. But\, “in modern times” that strategic approach is likely 360\, meaning you need to bring it to life through different touch-points — whether it’s an emerging platform like TikTok or a thirty second TV commercial. \n  \nThree Key Takeaways: \n\nIdentifying trends and capitalizing on them within a marketing strategy\nConsiderations for B2C brands in emerging social platforms\nWhat to look for in new channels\, how to adapt plans\, what measures to take to understand impact\n\nPresentation by Taylor Cohen\, Global Creative Strategy\n \nTaylor is a Global Creative Strategist on the Global Business Marketing team at TikTok in New York City. Prior\, she was the social go-to at DDB Worldwide as a Senior Social Strategist\, where she worked across brands like Capital One\, Kroger\, Lipton Pure Leaf\, Lufthansa and more. She has worked across a variety of accounts that include Johnson & Johnson\, Mercedes-Benz\, Samsung\, San Pellegrino\, Purina\, Dreyer’s & Edy’s\, Getty Images\, and plenty of others. When she’s not working\, she’s expanding her encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture and working on her honorary MFA in meme etymology. Her most recent novel\, “Waiting In Line at Starbuck’s” is 280 characters long (276 without the emojis). \nTikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video. Our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy.

SUMMARY:Mister Rogers 143 Day
DESCRIPTION:Mister Rogers honored with first annual statewide day of kindness in Pennsylvania\n\n\n“1-4-3.” It’s a code that beloved children’s television star Fred Rogers would say to his friends in the neighborhood — and it stands for the number of letters in the words “I love you.” \n\n\n\n\n\nNow\, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has declared May 23 — the 143rd day of the year — “143 Day\,” a day to celebrate and honor the Pennsylvania native’s kindness by following his example. According to the Fred Rogers Center\, the number was a reminder of compassion\, and it meant a lot to everyone’s favorite neighbor.

SUMMARY:Care and Feeding of Your People
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a result of themes that emerged from The Zoom\, where in Spring and Summer 2019\, we surveyed community partners across sectors on common issues of organizational and personal development and convened people in person to share perspectives and learn together. \nPeople want to be seen and their values honored. Sometimes we neglect the importance of social interactions. We’ll identify what we need for good people care\, identify environments in which we’ve seen that happen\, and practice listening between the lines. How do you listen for what your people need? In the vein of The Zoom\, come ready to have courageous conversations in a safe space where we can lean on our combined expertise and practice solutions together. Bring your challenges and your good ideas and success stories.
