Meet Leslie! She’s been in the beauty industry for 11 years and is the skincare expert at our local Sephora. She’s a self-described nerd who loves learning about new cosmetic ingredients and how they work. She uses the knowledge from her painting degree in the store every day. She makes jewelry and does metalworking in her free time. She’s going to share her beauty scoop with us!
Tiramisu For Breakfast: What’s your favorite beauty brand?
Leslie: Right now it’s Bite Beauty! The perfect marriage of hippie principles, luxury finish, and trendy colors.
TfB: What product have you been using the longest – your tried and true?
L: Cover Fx Total Cover Cream Foundation. I use it as concealer for spots and it lasts forever. Just the right combo of coverage without heaviness.
TfB: Who’s your beauty inspiration?
L: Isabella Rossellini. She always seems to be down to earth but effortlessly chic also.
TfB: What’s in your makeup bag right now?
L: Bite Beauty Gavi lip pencil, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer, Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara
TfB: Skincare routine?
L: I just started doing the Korean skincare routine, which feels like doing a facial every night. The key components are double cleansing, toning, serum mixing, and using very mild exfoliators. It sounds complicated, but it’s really not bad…and my skin looks great! My new favorite thing is the Boscia Tsubaki Exfoliating Powder.
TfB: What are your travel essentials?
L: I try to pack light, and always get minis in my favorite products. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is great as a face, eye, and body cream. I love bringing a Stila eyeshadow palette (I have a couple, ha) and their double ended brushes. Scented body lotion or a fragrance solid is easier to travel with than regular fragrances. I’m loving the new Elizabeth and James Nirvana solid perfumes, they’re in the prettiest compacts.
Thanks so much, Leslie!
PS: Leslie just had a birthday. Show her some love in the comments!

Happy Borthday, Leslie!!! You have me totally interested in this Korean skin care stuff. I want my skin to be like glowing porcelain! Also, how well do you find the Make Up Forever mascara holds? Their liquid liner is disappointingly runny and am always looking for a good, holding mascara

Thanks, Kerry! Look up the Korean skincare routine for sure! I simplified it just a bit to make it work for me. The Make Up For Ever mascara stays on nicely, but it isn’t waterproof. I prefer non-waterproof mascaras. The brush is conical, so the narrow end is good for tiny lashes and the wide end gives volume. Check it out!

Happy Birthday, Leslie! You’ve helped me multiple times and you’ve always been so nice! You introduced me to Bite beauty at the Regency store a couple years ago and I love that lip scrub like nobody’s business.
