2018 Virginia Women’s Conference
November 17, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
We are excited to announce that Beth Macy, widely-acclaimed bestselling author of Factory Man, Truevine, and most recently, DOPESICK: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America will keynote this year’s Virginia Women’s Conference on Saturday, November 17, at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.
Beth has won more than a dozen national awards for her reporting, including a Nieman Fellowship for Journalism at Harvard. Her book, DOPESICK, celebrating a month on the New York Times bestseller list, profiles the real people touched by this national epidemic and those leading, as she puts it, Dunkirk-like, grassroots efforts to stem the tide of death and despair. She has been combining journalistic excellence with compassionate, unforgettable storytelling for a quarter century at the Roanoke Times and through two national bestsellers. In DOPESICK, she puts the full force of her skills and passion into reporting on this wide-spread and deadly epidemic.
We are so pleased to have Beth join us to talk about her creative process, her Roanoke roots, and most importantly the touching personal stories she gathered and lessons she gleaned from researching and writing DOPESICK.
