PRSA: Professional Development Session: Behind the Scenes with Local Media – Panel Discussion and Q&A
September 13, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 10:00 am
What does the typical day in the life look like for a reporter? How can you get your pitch in the right hands? How does social media work in a newsroom? Is video content really king? We invite you to join us Thursday, Sept. 13 for a professional development session featuring a panel of Richmond media contacts. They’ll talk through the behind-the-scenes of what gets your story on the air, online or in the paper.
The workshop is open to PRSA members and non-members and will be held at the VCU Robertson School, located in the Temple Building at 901 West Main Street, room 1165. A networking session with bagels will kick off the session from 7:30 to 8 a.m., and the workshop will be held 8 to 10 a.m.
Panelists include:
Greg Gilligan, Business Editor, Richmond Times Dispatch
An industry veteran, Greg wrote about every major development relating to the retail industry in Virginia, from the demise of catalogue showroom retailer, Best Products to the latest news from CarMax. He has been the business editor since August 2010 and continues to write stories.
Scott Wise, Director of Interactive Media, WTVR TV, CBS 6
Scott manages the web team and is responsible for content on WTVR.com and various social media platforms, with the goal of getting news out to locals, whether on a computer, smartphone or tablet.
