Feb. 2019 DIY Journal Workshop
February 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
We are going to make a book together! We’ll be choosing covers, papers and binding thread and sewing a DIY journal. I use mine to bullet journal but you can use it for anything really.
You will spend three hours in this fun, hands on workshop learning to construct your own DIY journal. We will begin with envisioning how to use your journal for an intentional practice and I’ll show real examples of how I’ve used my handmade journals over the last 3 years.
You will select your cover color (numbered below) before the workshop. When you arrive, we will select interior papers, a spine and coordinating thread to bind your journal.
The steps we’ll take are – selecting our interior papers, folding our signatures (the term for each section of your journal), using a tabletop trough to punch through each signature, trimming the pages for a neat front edge, rounding the interior paper corners, and finally select our binding thread and securely sew our pages into the journal.
You will leave with a completed handmade journal and lots of ideas on how to use this in your daily life. No book making or bullet journaling experience is needed. The entire project is broken down into easy to follow steps, and your journal cover and spine have already been prepared and set up for you. $55, all materials included. To reserve your space, Venmo @jolindaRVA with your journal cover choice. 15 participants, max. If we sell out, I will have another date in early March.
